A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Sen. Abdul’Aziz Abubakar Yari as the head of the 2027 Tinubu/Shettima Re-election Campaign Council.

Shinkafi, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) gave the commendation in a statement on Saturday, in Abuja.

Shinkafi described the decision by the presidency and APC leadership to appoint Yari as the director-general of the campaign council as a strategic move that reflected political inclusivity and high competence.

Yari, a former Governor of Zamfara State and current representative of Zamfara West in the 10th Senate. He was also the Patron, Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council 2023.

Shinkafi noted that the 2027 campaign comprised eminent personalities of proven integrity, with Yari at the helm as its leader.

Shinkafi describing Yari as the right man for the job, noted his track records in education, religion and politics shaped him into a leader defined by good character, deep faith, and practical wisdom.

He stated that the lawmaker stems from a disciplined lineage in the Talata Mafara Emirate Council of Zamfara State, combining traditional values with advanced modern governance studies from the University of Salford.

Shinkafi emphasised Yari’s track record in party administration, citing his previous roles as State Chairman and National Treasurer of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).

“Sen. Yari’s political journey is an inspiring story of steady growth from the grassroots to the national stage. He did not stumble into politics by accident.

“He began his journey from the grassroots of Zamfara State, serving diligently as the State Secretary and subsequently as the state chairman of the defunct ANPP

“As state party chairman, he masterminded and led the historic campaign that delivered the re-election of Sen. Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura in 2003,” he said.

Shinkafi added that the landmark victory announced Yari to the nation as a master organiser and a brilliant political strategist, while he later rose to serve as the national treasurer of the ANPP.

“From those foundational years, his influence grew remarkably across Northern Nigeria and eventually resonated nationwide.

“He built enduring alliances, mentored emerging leaders, and earned the deep trust of ordinary citizens because he remained on the ground with the people.

He further have hailed Yari for playing a foundational role in establishing the APC in Zamfara State during its formative years.

Shinkafi expressed confidence that Yari’s grassroots organisation skills and nationwide political network would deliver a successful campaign, citing his legislative track records and political influence across country.

He called on party members, youth, women groups and all Nigerians across the 36 states who believe in sustained democracy to rally behind the leadership of the council.

“With Sen. Yari leading the charge as director-general, we have no doubt that this Campaign Council will be disciplined, laser-focused, and will deliver a historic victory to Tinubu/Shettima ticket and the APC.
