PDP state chairmen urge Jonathan to disassociate himself from Turaki-led group

The Forum of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Chairmen, has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to disassociate himself from the Tanimu Turaki led- faction, Interim National Working Committee of the party.

 

 

 

The chairman of the forum, Austin Nwachukwu, at a news conference on Monday in Abuja, alleged that for several weeks the Turaki-led group had chosen to operate as political impostor engaging in deliberate campaign of falsehood, impersonation, and lawlessness.

 

Nwachukwu said it was in the public knowledge that Jonathan’s name was being used by the group, noting that to perpetuate their activities, which according to him Jonathan’s legacy of peace and statesmanship.

 

“Mr President, your words still guide this nation: “My ambition is not worth the blood of a single Nigerian.”

 

 

 

“We call on you, in view of the global image and moral authority you command, to address Nigerians directly and disassociate yourself from the continuous use of your name in this spectacle of macabre dance by expelled PDP members,” he said.

 

 

 

Nwachukwu insisted that the only PDP leadership recognised by the courts and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was NWC led by Alhaji Abdulraham Mohammed as National Chairman and Sen. Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary.

 

 

 

He, however, said that members of the Turaki-led iNWC had been expelled from the opposition party and should not be allowed to continue allegedly deceiving members of the public.

 

 

 

Nwachukwu also called on all security and law enforcement agencies to investigate, with immediate effect, the alleged forgery and distortion of court judgments by the group.

 

“Nigeria is a nation of laws, not of propaganda. No group of expelled individuals should be allowed to substitute court pronouncements with press statements,” he said.

 

 

 

“These individuals have continued to falsely and continuously present themselves as a faction of the PDP, despite numerous competent court pronouncements to the contrary,” he said.

 

 

 

Nwachukwu also called on the Minister of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike as the Chief Security Officer of territory to look into the building that the faction was using as office in Area 10, Garki.

 

He urged the minister to cause an immediate security review and take necessary administrative action in the interest of peace in the nation’s capital.

 

Nwachukwu also called the Mohammed-led NWC to immediately file contempt proceedings against Turaki-led group for impersonation, forgery, and disobedience of court orders, saying PDP must protect its name, logo, and structure in law.

 

 

 

Nwachukwu appreciated the Mohammed-led NWC, for the prudent, transparent and all inclusive leadership style since they assumed office, as well as the successful nomination of candidates for 2027 general election.

 

He called on all PDP members to remain calm and resolute even in the face of provocation.(NAN)
