The Nigerian community in Qatar has honoured Nigeria’s Ambassador to the country, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, for improving consular services since he assumed duty.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), Qatar, said in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja that its President, Mr Michael Ihekwaba, and other executives presented the award to Yakubu.

It said the presentation was part of events in Doha to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

Ms Kholoud Saif Al Kubaisi, Executive Director of the Workers Support and Insurance Fund at Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, and some members of the diplomatic community attended the ceremony.

Hundreds of Nigerians in Qatar recently received new passports within two weeks, following an intervention by the ambassador. (NAN)
