No candidate threatening legal action against PDP-Turaki

The Tanimu Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says no candidate of the party is threatening legal action ageists leadership over nomination for 2027 general election.

The faction National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Ini Ememobong, stated this this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Ememobong said that the party was aware of rumours alleging that some candidates of PDP were threatening to institute legal action against the leadership of the party under the chairmanship of Turaki.

He described the rumours as false and product of mischief.

“There has not been a single complaint, let alone any threat of legal action, by any of our candidates.

“On the contrary, all the party’s candidates have remained in constant communication with the leadership and are regularly briefed on ongoing developments,” he said

Ememobong urged the public, particularly media organisations and journalists, to disregard those false reports and rely only on information communicated through the official channels of the party.

He said that such rumours were being propagated by ill-wishers and PDP pretenders, who were APC apologists, in a desperate attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary confusion.

Ememobong, however, disclosed that the party Board of Trustees (BoT) has instituted a suit, seeking an order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise the iNWC constituted by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.

He said that the matter which came up for hearing before the court on Tuesday had been adjourned for judgment.

“Following the adoption of their respective processes by counsel to all the parties, the matter was adjourned for judgment on a date to be communicated by the court,” Ememobong said.(www.primerise
