Ms Amra Salihu, a 500-level, Faculty of Law student of the University of Abuja, has emerged winner at the 9th Inter-Universities Speech Contest organised by the Intergovernmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA).<\/p>\n

This is according to a statement issued by the Acting Director, Information and University Relations, Mr Habib Yakoob, on Thursday in Abuja.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Yakoob said that the contest was held on July 22 in Freetown, Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He said that Amra represented Nigeria after winning the national selection, conducted by the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
According to him, she defeated contestants from The Gambia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Ghana to claim the regional title.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Yakoob said that Amra received the winner\u2019s plaque, a certificate of honour and a cash prize of 1,000 U.S. dollars.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He said that another 500-level law student, Abah Goodness, attended the event as an observer.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The university spokesperson said that the Director of the Law Clinic, Dr Nasiru Mukhtar, coached the team, alongside Mr J R Gogol of the NFIU who provided technical coaching.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hakeem Fawehinmi, while congratulating the winner, said he was proud of the students\u2019 performance.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cOur students from the Faculty of Law have once again made the university proud. I congratulate them on this great achievement.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cI also commend the Faculty of Law and the Law Clinic for their efforts in the training and mentorship of the students.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
