{"id":369,"date":"2026-07-22T09:50:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T09:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/primerisenews.com\/?p=369"},"modified":"2026-07-22T09:50:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T09:50:09","slug":"education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primerisenews.com\/?p=369","title":{"rendered":"Germany seeks expanded educational exchange with Nigeria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By Busayo Onijala<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lagos<\/p>\n<p>German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul has called for deeper educational and cultural exchanges with Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to him, stronger partnerships between universities, researchers and young people will further strengthen bilateral relations between both countries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wadephul made the call on Tuesday night at an official reception hosted by the German Consulate in Lagos in honour of his visit to Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The German minister\u2019s visit to Africa, his third in 2026, started from Mauritania on Monday and will end in South Africa on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, he will meet with Nigeria\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu for a high-level bilateral consultation aimed at strengthening the longstanding relations between both countries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He said education and people-to-people exchanges remained central to the longstanding partnership between both countries, haven maintained diplomatic relations for 65 years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThe number of university partnerships between our countries has grown significantly. Today we are looking proudly on over 50 partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThe number of Nigerian students in Germany has quadrupled in the last 10 years.
