The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) says it aims to fuel innovation, industrial growth and economic diversification by overhauling its research culture template.<\/p>\n

The Director\u2011General\/CEO, RMRDC, Prof.\u202f Nnanyelugo\u202fIke\u2011Muonso, said this on Thursday in Abuja at the inauguration of Digital Journal of Raw Materials Research (JORMAR).<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He said that JORMAR is set to reset how Nigerian researchers generate and share resources and knowledge.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He said JORMAR was recently conceived as a fully digital successor to print\u2011only practices dating back to 1988.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is designed to match the rigour, reach and reliability of the world\u2019s top research journals.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cIt serves both as a peer\u2011reviewed scientific outlet and a central national knowledge storehouse, compiling verified data on resource location and quality,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He said the journal would serve as a turning point because it would remove long\u2011standing barriers local innovators face.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cCountless researchers, inventors and industry practitioners have carried strong ideas and solid work for years with nowhere to publish them.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThis journal gives them that fair, accessible platform, so that their findings, inventions and insights can be seen, validated and built upon,\u201d the D-G said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He called on policymakers, investors, manufacturers and universities to draw on JORMAR\u2019s evidence to make smarter choices.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThe journal will pinpointing where to invest, how to replace imported inputs, and how to turn raw resources into high\u2011value products.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cIn doing so, it becomes a key tool for economic diversification, local industrial growth and sustainable development.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are also nurturing a generation committed to this vital field of research and development of raw materials,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Chairman JORMAR Implementation Committee, Dr\u202fSab\u202f Ebiriekwe, said that<\/p>\n
industrial progress depended on accessible and high\u2011quality research.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He said that print version of JORMAR ceased in 2017 adding that former authors can now trace their earlier works easily.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThis launch opens a new chapter for Nigeria\u2019s resource research,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Editor\u2011in\u2011Chief of JORMAR, Prof.\u202fAzikiwe\u202f\u202fOnwualu, stressed the importance of modern publishing formats.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Onwualu, who was represented by Dr Abdulhakeem Bello, said no journal serveed its purpose if it is not online.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He said that many researchers carried breakthrough ideas and practical findings for years with nowhere to publish them but JORMAR opens that door.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cIt gives every researcher, inventor, and industry expert equal chance to showcase their work locally and internationally.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have built a fully digital, peer\u2011reviewed platform that meets or exceeds the standards of the world\u2019s leading journals fully indexed, transparent, and globally accessible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He urged all stakeholders to adopt and support the new platform as the open\u2011access archive is available at\u202fwww.jormar.rmrdc.gov.ng.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that JORMA is a follow up to Nigerian Information Statistical System for Raw Materials and Products (NISSRAMP).<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Inaugurated on April 21 it is part of RMRDC\u2019s drive to boost local sourcing, cut imports, advance diversification and industrial growth.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
While NISSRAMP resolves long\u2011standing gaps of scattered and out-dated records on raw materials, JORMAR provides a world\u2011class, dedicated outlet for raw materials research.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
