The Police Command in Osun has confirmed that two persons were killed in separate violent clashes in Egbatedo and Owode-Igbona areas of Osogbo.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, said the incidents occurred on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Ojelabi said one person died in the Egbatedo clash, while four others sustained injuries and are responding to treatment.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He added that two suspects connected to the incident had been arrested and had provided useful information on other persons involved.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The police spokesperson further said one person was also killed in the Owode-Igbona clash, with no arrest made so far.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He, however, said that a pistol, three rounds of ammunition and five cartridges were recovered from the scene.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Reacting, Gov. Ademola Adeleke condemned the incidents and called for calm, while urging security agencies to enforce the law and apprehend those responsible.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor debunked insinuations of the state government\u2019s involvement.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cWe received with concern reports of suspected cult-related killings in Osogbo and call on security agencies to enforce the law and go after the culprits.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThe killings and the subsequent violence are condemnable.<\/p>\n
