CVR: INEC disowns fake online registration website, warns against PVC delivery scam<\/p>\n

The\u00a0 Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disowned an online portal on the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise currently circulating on some social media platforms, describing it as fake.<\/p>\n
INEC Deputy Director of Information and Publicity, Wilfred Ifogah, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja, described it as a phishing scam designed to harvest unsuspecting citizens\u2019 personal data.<\/p>\n
NAN reports that the viral post entitled: \u201cINEC ONLINE VOTERS REGISTRATION 2026 ONGOING\u201d which has been circulating on WhatsApp and other digital platforms, directed Nigerians to a link: https:\/\/linksnapro.com\/cvrreg, claiming that the deadline for registration is Aug. 17, 2026.<\/p>\n
The post also claimed that the home addresses provided by users would be used to deliver their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).<\/p>\n
Ifogah, however, advised members of the public to disregard the message and avoid clicking on the link, warning that doing so could expose users to identity theft and cyber fraud.<\/p>\n
\u201cINEC does not use third-party blogging links or private URL for official exercises, nor does it deliver PVCs to private residences,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the only INEC official and approved portal for all voter registration activities, including updates, transfers, PVC replacement and centre location remains https:\/\/cvr.inecnigeria.org.<\/p>\n
