President Tinubu doesn\u2019t need to be in Abuja to do his work<\/p>\n
The presidency on Sunday says President Bola Tinubu does not need to be in Abuja to perform his responsibilities.<\/p>\n
Presidential spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, in a statement in Abuja also said that Tinubu is hale and hearty, adding that he has been on a working vacation, which he is perfectly entitled to.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this digital age, he does not need to be physically present in Abuja to do the work for which he was elected in 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we have seen that he has indeed been working, meeting investors in France, most recently facilitating a $7 billion deep-sea port in Ogun Waterside, an initiative of the Ogun State Government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Onanuga, the Special Adviser To the President on Information and Strategy, also faulted criticism over Tinubu\u2019s absence from the United Nations General Assembly, citing other African leaders who did not also attend the international event.<\/p>\n
\u201cTwo other important African leaders were not in New York for the UNGA: South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa and Egypt\u2019s Abdel Fattah el-Sisi Ramaphosa booked himself off public engagements.<\/p>\n
\u201cJohannesburg and Pretoria made no uproar over Ramaphosa’s absence at UNGA. And Egypt did not erupt that Sisi did not go to New York,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Onanuga also noted that Nigerian President had earlier announced he was taking his annual vacation and delegated attendance to his able and dependable Vice President.<\/p>\n

\u201cYet Peter Obi pretends to be unaware of President Tinubu\u2019s whereabouts and asks the puerile question his followers are asking on X,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Onanuga disclosed that President Tinubu would return home this week to mark Nigeria\u2019s 66th Independence Anniversary, and \u201chonour MKO Abiola, the martyr of the democracy we enjoy today, by attending the premiere of a movie in MKO\u2019s memory in Lagos.\u201d<\/p>\n
