{"id":106,"date":"2026-07-07T13:06:30","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T13:06:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/primerisenews.com\/?p=106"},"modified":"2026-07-07T13:06:44","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T13:06:44","slug":"2027-prioritise-workers-welfare-or-lose-our-votes-tuc-tells-politicians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primerisenews.com\/?p=106","title":{"rendered":"2027: Prioritise workers welfare or lose our votes, TUC tells politicians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2027: Prioritise workers welfare or lose our votes, TUC tells politicians<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By Christian Ogbonna<\/p>\n<p>The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) in Ebonyi has urged political parties and candidates for the 2027 general elections to prioritise workers\u2019 welfare in their manifestos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The State Chairman of the Congress, Mr Chidi Igboji, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Abakaliki on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Igboji said that the organised labour would no longer support leaders who neglected workers\u2019 welfare, stressing that employees deserved governments committed to improving their living and working conditions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to him, workers will assess candidates based on their commitment to policies that ensure the prompt payment of salaries, career progression, pension administration and other welfare programmes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will support leaders who place workers\u2019 welfare at the centre of their policies and ensure the prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe era of supporting leaders who pay little attention to the wellbeing of workers is over.
